Tea bag holder

the jumble of teas was a mess so a set of boxes to tidy them up was needed

i ordered some fill your own tea bags to sort the loose leaf teas and made and labelled the tags with paper scraps.

For the holder

1 sheet  craft card plus 11cm square craft card

2 sheets 8×8 inch scrapbook paper, I used Bohemian dreams from craftwork cards

scalpel, glue and roll of red liner tape

lay the sheet landscape in front of you and score at 7, 14, 21 and 28 cm down then 4 cm across. Cut out the tiddly corner and cut up the bottoms as shown to create the base flaps. Place the tape roll on one of the panels at the bottom crease and scalpel inside it to create the opening

on the square card score around at 2 cm and cut one side of each of the corners as shown. I find it tidier to cut a tiny wedge out of these snips to make folding neater.

tape the boxes with red liner to keep them secure, tape the half moon flap to the base for extra stability and cover the outside panels with paper that is just a bit smaller  to create a mat effect

Forever card making

image

Feeling a bit guilty about the big box of paper and craft bits I ordered with my birthday money, I decided to make up some card sets to bundle for charity sales have stared with Docrafts forever friends and will work to a target of selling 80 cards or raising £80 whichever is first achieved.  Better get going!

Wedding card

image

I have seen YouTube demos where metallic thread is twizzled to make an embellishment so a wedding card seems a good place to try it.

lots of tape required to sandwich loops of thread between card and topper.

while embellishing it seemed sensible to add vellum flourishes, pearl drops and silver pen strokes too.

Stationery holder gift

A small gift of four cards made from the same paper set ( nature’s gallery by Docrafts) made better by presenting them in a folder .

a sheet of 12×12″ paper from the same range is scored horizontally at 7″ and 11″  then at 5″ and 7″ down to form a spine.. I rounded the corners  too.

Fold all but the 1″ cuff to form the folder and fix brads from cover to  inner as shown, then stick ribbon or twine inside the cuff and use the final cuff fold to firm the ribbon in place and cover the brad legs.

imageI poked two holes in the front cover and threaded some fine twine through then strung some tags from the nature’s gallery range on the twine to decorate the cover.

serviette decoupage

IKEA mirror upcycle – I found some Cath Kidston paper serviettes on sale (45p the packet!). They are soooo pretty that I decided to use them for crafting. I peeled off the plain paper liner and pasted a thin layer of mod podge on the mirror. Rather than tearing the napkin into pieces, decided to keep the chequerboard structure in tact which entailed some fussy tearing around the mirror. Decided my fussy tearing wasn’t neat enough so some contrast washi tape provided a central contrast to finish things off.

The napkins wrinkled to provide a lovely texture to the finished mirror.

Half of an embroidery hoop covered in bias binding  – I didn’t have enough white ribbon to cover the hoop – then 16 scan n cut library shapes cut, each one twice, and sandwiched round some twine which was tied to the hoop.  All fixed with hot glue and some buttons glued on to finish the hoop off.

next time I will use two dowels instead and some bakers twine instead. Loads of great circus shapes on the scan n cut canvas projects site to use or even a Christmas version with snowflakes etc.

ScanNCut to make word cards

image

Welding letters into a library shape made for an elegant card using up some glitzy foiled card from my stash.

I chose a scalloped square to echo the (bought) card base but forgot to use the new ScanNCut for my brown mat and those little hearts. I could also have used the machine to make the card base and cut the slits for the ribbon if I had thought of it!

However, a super easy and impressive card to make, more like this in the pipeline …
